Worth Farms Limited is a subsidiary division of A H Worth & Company Limited (AHW), a family business which has farmed on Holbeach Marsh for over 100 years. The farm, situated on the alluvial silts of South Lincolnshire, has a land base of c1,800 hectares. The original land base of c800 hectares known as the Fleet Estate has been added to in recent years with various blocks of land farmed under farm business tenancies and contract farming agreements. The sustainable 6 year rotation includes peas, potatoes, wheat, sugar beet, brassica and specialist salads.

Potatoes are a key crop for the business. Due to the quality of the soil, the vast majority of the potato crop is grown for the retail sector, although some small areas of land are targeted for processing. Irrigation is limited due to saline water, though an amount of fresh water is available for the salad crops. A small amount of the potato crop is marketed at harvest, but the majority is stored in our own state of the art storage facilities for marketing later in the season.

Worth Farms proudly hold many marketing accreditations, these include Assured Combinable Crop Scheme, Assured Produce, Tesco Nature’s Choice and LEAF Marque. We are involved in many environmental schemes to promote local wildlife and in 1996 the farm became a LEAF Demonstration Farm. This helped to make it possible to join the Entry Level Scheme at its launch.

Marsh Harriers have successfully nested on the farm for the last ten years, whilst Barn Owl Numbers have continued to increase with careful management of their habitat. Through the generations the Worth family has always handed the land base to the next generation in a more sustainable and environmentally enhanced condition and the fourth generation of the Worth family is committed to continuing this tradition.
